Fives supports Renault in its conversion to electric vehicle
The year 2020 is a transitional year for the George Besse Plant (Renault Douai). Indeed, the site will celebrate its 50 years of existence and is preparing its major shift towards the production of electric vehicles.
Fives, which is recognized as a key supplier at Renault, is taking part in this major project by modifying 3 existing machines by the end of 2020.
The first operation consists in adding a second coolant process to the existing RapidCharge® 3 process machine (coolant, brake and HFO).
The existing RapidCharge® machine, dedicated to the filling of gearboxes, will be relocated and adapted to the lower and more accurate filling volumes required for future electric vehicles.
Finally, a few changes will be made to a non-proprietary machine. Currently located upstairs, it will be moved to the first floor to comply with Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance production standards. It will be supported by a gantry crane on the ground instead of the roof frame descents. The Filling | Sealing teams will also modify the shaft lift system to enable the production of future electric vehicles.
This contract demonstrates that Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance trusts the Filling | Sealing teams for transforming means and supplying high performance fluid filling equipment to produce electric vehicles.
